Sakanoue no Kaneshige (坂上兼成)

SAKANOUE no Kaneshige (1114? - June 23, 1162) was a government official who lived towards the end of the Heian period. He was a son of SAKANOUE no Akikane. He was the father of SAKANOUE no Akimoto.

In 1149, he was appointed to Myobo hakase (a teacher of the law in the Ritsuryo system), assuming daihanji (judge) additionally. In 1152, he also assumed Bicchu no kuni Jo (an officer of Bicchu Province) additionally. He submitted Myobo kanmon (reports to the Imperial Court by scholars of the law) concerning how to deal with the persons who surrendered to Retired Emperor Sutoku's side after the Hogen War (according to "Heihanki" (Diary of TAIRA no Nobunori). According to "Heiji Monogatari" (The Tale of Heiji), he had, under his charge, FUJIWARA no Shigenori, a son of Shinzei who was caught by Nobuyori FUJIWARA in the initial battle of Heiji War.
